Loopshot supports virtually any software that you may require. We prefer Linux as the server operating system of choice, due to its incredible stability, security, and speed. However, we can easily deploy other systems including Windows NT/2000 and MacOS X Server.
We use the Apache web server, which currently serves approximately 62.72% of all web sites on the Internet (according to Netcraft). It is very fast, supports many software modules, and has proven itself time and time again in large-scale deployment.
For our MTA (Mail Transport Agent), we use qmail. It is in many ways superior to Sendmail, not the least of which are security and speed. Since 1997, the author of qmail has offered an ongoing reward to anyone who can find a security hole in the qmail software. So far it has gone unclaimed. Sendmail's security track record has not been so successful.
